Tent Camping

Tent camping at the Farm is a luxury camping experience. For the Getaway we are now offering 3 magnificent tent sites, elevated on platforms, and situated in private beautiful surroundings. The tents are spacious Cabelas tents, 14' x 16' and 7' in height, with a super comfy full-size futon. Large tents fit two people and two dogs easily. All tents have handy interior pockets for storage and ceiling loops to hang items and numerous zippered windows for good airflow. Every little comfort is added to make this camping experience easy. We provide a storage shelf for organization, small dustpan and broom to help you keep things tidy, and an outdoor clothesline and clothespins to hang wet items.

Fresh water is delivered each day right to your door for you and your dog. For meals, you can prepare them in our fabulous dining pavilion or you may choose to head into Morris, 2 miles away or Oneonta, 15 miles away, to grab a bite to eat or to pick up groceries. Note that there is no cooking allowed at the campsites due to fire hazard.

A restroom with hot shower (new for 2012) , flushing toilet and outdoor vanity is located right near the campsites. We also have full bathroom and shower facilities near the dining pavilion, about a 10 minute leisurely trail walk away.

Tent campers will need to bring their own pillows and sleeping bags. You will definitely need a flashlight or lantern to make your way around at night. Also if you like to read at night, a personal reading light might be something extra to bring along. You should also bring a crate or x-pen for your dog in the event you have to leave your dog alone in the tent. You will be held responsible for damages to the tent during your stay. We highly recommend that you read Guest Info for what to bring to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

We are pleased to offer tent camping as part of the Getaway vacation experience - what better way is there to truly enjoy the outdoors with your dog. Please note that you are responsible for leaving the lodging in the same condition as when you arrived.

Tent rental fees:
$270 for 2 nights (at $135/night)
$350 for 3 nights (at $117/night)

Most campers say this is the cushiest camping they've ever done and non-campers find it surprisingly comfortable and convenient.

Cabin Comfort

We have 2 small cabins nestled high up on the Ridge, secluded amidst tall pine trees with a scenic vista below. The cabins are rustic but provide the essentials: furnished with two comfy cots, storage shelves, lamps, rugs and chairs. Cabins have heat and electricity (new for 2012!). Coffee service and mini-refrigerators are provided for convenience. Note that full size refrigerators and freezers are available in near the dining pavilion to store your groceries. Each cabin measures about 12' x 15' and provides room enough for two people plus their dog or one person with one or more dogs.

Because the small cabins are located higher up on a ridge, you should feel physically comfortable heading up an incline on the established path to the cabins. If you are not up for walking uphill, consider the larger cottages which sit below the ridge. On the ridge, the quiet and fresh air will make sleeping a joy for you and your dog. Some guests have described the views as those you would see in a treehouse!

Guests will need to bring their own pillows, bed linens or sleeping bags and blankets. You will need a flashlight or lantern to make your way to/from your cabin at night. To best prepare you for your stay, we highly recommend that you review our handy list of items to bring on our Guest Info page.

Situated below the ridge, are 2 spacious large cottages. The cottages are rustic but provide you with the basics: each roomy cottage has two large cots, a dresser, shelving, lamps, rugs, chairs, tables. Cottages have heat and electricity (new for 2012!). Coffee service and mini-refrigerators are now provided in each cottage for convenience. Note that full size refrigerators and freezers are available in near the dining pavilion to store your groceries. The cottages measure about 16' x 20' and provide plenty room for 2 or 3 people with their dogs (an additional per night charge for a 3rd person would apply). They are perfect for friends vacationing together or for a couple who want lots of space to unwind. The setting gives you quick access to nearby trails.

Guests will need to bring their own pillows, bed linens or sleeping bags and blankets. You will need a flashlight or lantern to make your way to/from your cottage at night. To best prepare you for your stay, we highly recommend that you review our handy list of items to bring on our Guest Info page.

The cabins and cottages are rustic as they do not have electricity and do not house their own bathroom

The cabins and cottages do not house their own bathroom. Shower and toilet facilities (see below) are located just 100 feet away. Please note that at night you will need a flashlight or lantern to make your way to/from your cabin or cottage. Cabins and cottages have electricity. Also they are equipped with heaters for use during September and October. Fresh water is brought to your quarters for you and your dog. For meals, you can prepare them on your own in the dining pavilion (see below) or you may choose to head into Morris, 2 miles away or Oneonta, 15 miles away, for groceries or to grab a bite to eat.

RV Convenience

The Farm RVs are a real home away from home and wonderfully situated at the foot of a 30-acre meadow. With 5 standard RVs or 1 deluxe RV to choose from, visitors opt for RVs for access to electricity including heating/air conditioning. Though in efforts to conserve energy, we kindly asked guests to turn off heat/air when not in the RVs.

Our standard RVs have the feel of gently lived-in spaces (they are after all dog-friendly!). One RV even has its own private deck! All have a separate cozy bedroom (with full, queen or king accommodations), the convenience of a private but small bathroom, storage cabinets, a kitchen equipped with stove, refrigerator and freezer, microwave, hot water pot and coffee maker. Kitchens are stocked with basic cookware, glasses, mugs, dishware and utensils. If you feel like cooking out, which many of our RV guests do, you can use the gas or wood burning grills and prep space in the outdoor dining pavilion (see Facilities below). Living areas have a dog friendly sofa with throw blankets and pillows and also VCR/DVD and stereo. While RVs have their own small bathroom with toilet, sink and shower, RV guests prefer to use our separate full size bathroom and shower facilities (see Facilities below) just behind the RV row.

You will need to bring your own bed linens, pillows and blankets. We provide camp chairs for outside lounging under the retractable awnings. To best prepare you for your stay, we highly recommend that you review our handy list of items to bring on our Guest Information page.

Got your own RV? Load up the dogs and come on over! We have RV hookup sites for you to rent.

Deluxe RV!
In addition to the standard amenities described above, we have a deluxe RV with spacious interior thanks to push-out technology. You and your dogs will appreciate the extra room to move around! The Chateau RV has a single push-out, creating a good sized living space with a very comfortable home-like interior. In perfect condition, the king-sized bed, pull out bed, large kitchen design and over-sized bathroom makes for RV luxury in the countryside.

Farm Facilities

Showers and toilets
Our shower and toilets facilities are private and conveniently located near the dining pavilion. There are 2 shower rooms, each with their own private entrances. Each room has a tiled shower stall with hot and cold water. There's plenty room to change and space for your belongings with wall hooks, shelves and a bench. The two toilet rooms each have a flushing toilet. On the outside are a pair of vanities with mirrors.

Dining pavilion and pantry
Our pavilion is a great outdoor space for preparing and eating meals and snacks, socializing with other guests, or simply a shady rest stop from one trail to the next. New in 2012, the pavilion now has wi-fi access to help you keep in touch while you are on vacation. In the middle of the space is a huge free-standing wood burning grill, roomy enough for a large group feast or for an individual meal. We also have gas and charcoal grills, toaster and coffeemaker (don't forget to bring your own coffee) and microwave for your use. The pavilion has a food prep counter and 4 picnic tables. Pots, grill pans, cutting boards, knives and cooking utensils are on hand, as are basic oils and spices. We also have dishware, drinkware, utensils and napkins for all our guests. Our pantry shed houses several refrigerators with freezers and tables and shelves for you to store your food during your stay. There is a large outdoor sink and dish drying racks to make cleanup easy. Electrical outlets are available in this area as well. Don't feel like cooking? You head into Morris or Oneonta to grab a bite to eat or to stock up on more groceries.

Rest areas
Throughout the Farm alongside the trails you will come across thoughtfully placed hammocks, lounging chairs with umbrellas and benches and picnic tables where you can take a break from the activities and enjoy the wonderful scenery. Keep an eye out for the signs that direct you to favorite locations around the Farm. In fact, these are special places that were picked by our very own Farm dogs! Water coolers with drinking cups are conveniently located and provide fresh water for you and your dog so you are refreshed and ready to venture around the next bend.

Check-in and Check-out Times

Check-ins are from 3pm - 4:30pm only. We understand that you might encounter traffic problems or get lost, so please give us a courtesy call if you are running late. We pride ourselves on providing individualized attention to our campers, therefore we prefer all campers to check in on time so that one of the founders of Glen Highland Farm may give you a tour of the facility and get you settled in by 6pm. We cannot accept arrivals after 6 pm. If you are late and do not let us know, there will not be anyone to assist you upon your arrival and you will have to use other local accommodations and check-in the following morning.

Check-out is 11am. We ask that you vacate from your accommodations by 11am so that we may prepare for our next guests. Please note that you are responsible for leaving the lodging in the same condition as when you arrived. Feel free to enjoy the rest of the property and even prepare a lunch in the pavilion before your departure.

Your stay at the Farm supports Sweet Border Collie Rescue

Glen HIghland Farm is also home to Sweet Border Collie Rescue. Since inception we have helped find forever homes for over 1500 border collies. Please inquire with us if you would like to tour the rescue operation during your stay. Many campers enjoy meeting the rescue dogs personally, taking them for walks around the property. We love volunteers! You can feel great having a wonderful outdoor vacation and doing something wonderful for dogs in need.
