Our pavilion the "Hound Hub" is a great outdoor gathering space for preparing and eating meals and snacks, socializing with other guests, or simply a shady rest stop from one trail to the next. In the middle of the space is a huge free-standing wood burning grill. We also have gas and charcoal grills, toasters, coffeemakers and a microwave for your use. The pavilion has a food prep counter and plenty of seating for large groups, small groups or individuals. Pots, grill pans, cutting boards, knives and cooking utensils are provided, and basic oils and spices. We also have dishware, drinkware, utensils and napkins for all our guests. Our supply house has refrigerators, tables and shelves for you to store your food during your stay. There is a large outdoor sink and dish drying racks to make cleanup easy (please cleanup after yourselves). Don't feel like cooking? You can head into Morris or Oneonta to grab a bite to eat.
The pavilion has wi-fi to help you keep in touch while you are on vacation! Electrical outlets are available in this area as well. The new pavilion addition is like an outdoor living room with sofa seating, so after a meal you can sit back and really relax.
We often hear guests recount great memories of their evenings spent by the fire in the pavilion, mingling with other guests. S'mores, anyone?
The shower and restroom building is conveniently located near the dining pavilion. There are 2 shower rooms, each with their own private entrances. Each room has a shower stall with hot and cold water. There's plenty room to change and space for your belongings with wall hooks, shelves and a bench. The two restrooms, also with their own private entrances, have real flushing toilets (no porta-potties here!). On the outside of the structure are a pair of vanities with hot and cold water, hanging mirror, paper towels and handsoap.
Lounging and rest areas
Throughout the Farm alongside the trails you will come across thoughtfully placed hammocks, lounging chairs with umbrellas and benches and picnic tables where you can take a break from the activities and enjoy the wonderful scenery. Keep an eye out for the trail signs and read the stories of the dogs that inspired the locations... all are special places that were picked by our very own Farm dogs! Guests find these ideal locations to read a book, take a nap or enjoy a picnic. Water coolers with drinking cups are also located throughout the property and provide fresh water for you and your dog so you are refreshed and ready to venture around the next bend.
Agility & activity fields
We have agility equipment available for use anytime during your stay. Practice any aspect of the sport you like and use each day to build greater skills or just have fun with it, introducing something new to your dog.
Throughout the property are wide clearings, lovely open areas that make great places to perfect that Frisbee toss or practice tracking and other nose-work with your canine pal. We've added a 10-acre sport field, nice and flat, perfect for frisbee and ball throwing!
Bullfrog Pond and Butternut Creek
Our spring-fed pond, Bullfrog pond can be either serene and relaxing for you or wildly fun for canine water lovers. Dogs can wade in from the beach area or take a flying leap off the floating dock. Like fishing? We've stocked the pond with trout and bass for catch and release fishing - no permit required!
Butternut Creek, runs throughout the Farm with light reflecting babbling brooks to fast currents and hidden swimming holes, there's a surprise lay around every bend. Be sure to take advantage of the chaise lounges and hammocks by the Creek.
Miles of Trails
Glen Highland Farm provides a remarkable outdoor experience where you can enjoy miles of lush trails with your dog and perhaps with a few new canine buddies.
Wander through flowering meadows, pass towering trees in the Hemlock forest, or rest creekside as water rushes over fallen logs. The variety of scenery will be a feast for those canine senses. Trails wind through distinctive areas of the property suitable for human and canine activity alike: light hiking, swimming & wading. The trails cross varied terrain depending on where you are on the property. Most are flat or rolling grassy footpaths through the meadows and creekside or cleared trails through the woods with exposed tree roots and some loose rocks. There are several rocky inclines so sturdy footwear is recommended.
