To aid in your trip planning, we've put together this page of helpful information regarding what to bring, weather expectations, driving directions, and more.

What to bring for yourself:

Clothing & Gear:

  • Jacket, fleece/sweatshirt for the
    cooler evenings
  • Rain jacket (just in case)
  • Hiking boots or other sturdy trail shoes (an extra pair of shoes is handy in case one pair gets wet from dew on grass or rain)
  • Extra socks
  • Long pants, long sleeved shirts
  • Shorts, t-shirts
  • Swimming suit
  • Sunscreen lotion, hat, sunglasses
  • Bug spray
  • Toiletries
  • Towels for bathing, swimming
  • Flashlights (highly recommended for
    tent campers)
  • Battery-operated lanterns (for lighting your tent at night or for additional reading light for those staying in cabins and cottages)
  • Small backpack, tote or fanny pack to
    carry essentials with you

Bedding:

Cabins, cottages and RVs are not outfitted with bedding. You must bring your own bedding:

  • Cabins/cottages: Pillow and full size bed linens or sleeping bag
  • RVs: Bed linens and pillows - size depends on your choice of accommodation
  • Light Blankets are very handy (fleece blankets
    are lightweight and warm)

If you are staying in a tent, you'll need to bring:

  • Sleeping bag and pillow
  • Light Blanket, optional but handy! (Fleece blankets are ideal - lightweight and warm)

Alcohol and Wine:

  • If you'd like alcohol or wine in the evenings, bring your own liquor. We have refrigerators for your use. Ice is available for purchase on site.

For your dog(s):

Bring items that you would normally bring
when you travel with your dog(s) such as:

  • Dog bowls for food and water
  • Leash
  • Toys
  • Dog food
  • Treats (Bring plenty, especially if you will be participating in sporting activities)
  • Crate
  • Dog bed
  • Towels for drying off the dog

Good news for dog lovers - thanks to our winters, the woods and meadows are basically tick free! You and your dog can enjoy miles of trails in the woods without worrying about those troublesome ticks. Campers travel here from all over the northeast to experience the great outdoors with their dogs!

Weather

Summer in upstate New York is delightful. The days can be warm though accompanied by a great breeze all day. The evenings are cool and comfortable. Please also bring bug spray since you'll be going into raw wilderness areas with your dog. If rain does occur, it is often a short shower, clearing to a bright sunny day. If we do have a rainy day, then activities will be taken indoors and/or suspended, as need be. We obviously cannot provide refunds for inclement weather... but, we'll do everything possible to make your vacation a relaxing and enjoyable one.

Emergencies

Morris, NY is in a rural area so we are a bit remote from hospitals and vets... at least a half hour drive... so please let us know if you have any medical conditions or if your dog has a medical condition which we should know about. We do have a nurse practitioner and emergency unit less than 5 minutes away so we have no worries but it's better to be prepared with information, especially with the dogs, too. The vet is quite a drive for an emergency situation.

Arrival

You arrive at our front gate area to unload your gear, which we transport to your lodging (just like the bellman at a hotel!) Your car is then parked at a nearby parking area where you can have access all week. If you are tent camping, there is no road going to your tent site so keep in mind that the gear you pack must be transportable by golf cart.

Check in is 12noon (no earlier please). All activities begin at 1pm and lunch is provided.

Departure is 3pm (no extensions, please use local accommodations)
